“Bad Girls” Nominated for Three MTV Video Music Awards

The music video for “Bad Girls,” the Danja-penned hit performed by M.I.A., has been nominated for three MTV Video Music Awards in this year’s ceremonies.

The video features M.I.A. in a Middle Eastern setting alongside stunt car drivers and dancers, and was positively noted by press like The Huffington Post and The Los Angeles Times upon its release.  The video was first unveiled in February via Vice Magazine’s new music channel, Noisey, and has amassed nearly 24 million Youtube views to date.

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on MTV on Thursday, September 6 at 8pm/7pm Central.

For A Minor Reflection’s Kjartan Holm on Tour with Sigur Ros

Indie-rock band For A Minor Reflection have leant their guitarist, Kjartan Holm, to fellow Icelanders in ambient rock band Sigur Ros. Holm was called on to stand in for Sigur Ros multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson after Sveinsson confessed to a Reykjavik blog that he was “tired of touring” and would not play the Sigur Ros dates.  Holm is the younger brother of Sigur Ros bassist Georg “Goggi” Holm.

Sigur Ros’s world tour commenced in the States on Sunday with a date in Philadelphia at The Mann Skyline Stage. The tour is in support of Sigur Ros’s latest release, Valtari, released on May 29, 2012 on XL Recordings.

Chris Brown’s “Fortune” Hits #1

Chris Brown’s fifth studio album, Fortune, is #1 on the Billboard 200 chart a week after its release on July 3.  The album becomes the second #1 U.S. release of Brown’s career after the first, F.A.M.E., topped the chart in 2011.

Reservoir songwriter and producer Danja is the mastermind behind Fortune’s third single, “Till I Die.”  “Till I Die” follows the energetic dance-pop lead single “Turn Up The Music” and down-tempo R&B follow up “Sweet Love.”   Stylistically, “Till I Die” is a departure from both, featuring futuristic sound effects and militant percussion over an airy hip-hop track.  Guest verses featuring Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa lend extra star-power to the song.
