Wesbild Sponsors Burke Mountain School Bus
Today, local parents and students proudly announced that there will be a school bus to serve the Burke Mountain community. They were joined by Coquitlam City Councillor Craig Hodge, who assisted Burke parents in making this initiative a reality; and Jen Derbyshire of Wesbild Holdings Ltd., who announced a financial contribution of $7,000.
“I’d like to thank the Burke Mountain parents who helped organize the student bus service and Wesbild for the generous donation to start this service,” said Councillor Hodge. “This is another example of how residents and business are working together to build a great community here on Burke Mountain.”
“We are pleased to provide a financial gift to Burke Mountain students to get to and from school safely,” said Ms. Derbyshire. “We would like to thank Councillor Hodge and the community parents who rallied together to bring a school bus to Burke Mountain for the opportunity to contribute to this initiative.”
The logistics for the school bus were put together by a parent-led organizing committee. The bus will be available for both the morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off. The bus will service Leigh Elementary School, Kwayhquitlum Middle School, Minnekhada Middle School, and Terry Fox Secondary School. Parents can sign-up their students for the bus service by contacting Susan Patel of the parent organizing committee at Susie.Patel@me.com.
